Goa Governor Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju administered the oath of office to the new Lokayukta in the presence of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and others.
The Lokayukta post had remained vacant since December 2024 following the completion of Justice (retd) Ambadas Joshi’s tenure. The absence of a Lokayukta has stalled hearings in over 20 pending corruption cases.
Born in Chiplun and hailing from Mumbai, Justice Shinde retired on January 16, 2023, after six years as a High Court judge. Prior to his elevation to the bench in 2017, he served as Chief Public Prosecutor representing Mumbai in 2015.
