RGP rift deepens as social media war escalates between party leaders

PANAJI

Internal tensions within the Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) intensified on the third consecutive day as senior leaders exchanged cryptic and sharp remarks on social media, fuelling speculation of a widening split within the regional outfit.

St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar triggered fresh buzz after posting a brief “Peace (peace emoji)” message online. Responding indirectly, RGP chief Manoj Parab posted “green (peas emoji)” along with the hashtag “#SilentCowardMaturity,” further escalating the public fallout.

In another strongly worded social media post, Manoj Parab accused Borkar and his associates of attempting to weaken and “take over” the party. The post also referenced individuals including Aditya Dessai and criticised what Parab described as betrayal from within the movement.

RGP leader Ajay Kholkar reacted sharply to Borkar’s peace post, stating “Your so-called peace has turned us into pieces.”

Amid the growing crisis, RGP General Secretary Vishvesh Naik issued an emotional appeal to the media and Goan diaspora across the globe, urging support to “save the Revolution.”

In a Facebook message, Naik alleged internal sabotage, fake social media pages, and attempts to divide party workers. “Despite repeated efforts by office bearers to communicate internally through calls, emails, and WhatsApp, slow poisoning tactics and misinformation campaigns had worsened the situation within the party,” Naik claimed.
