No relief from heat and humidity till May 20

Goa continued to witness high temperatures and uncomfortable humidity on Thursday, with the maximum temperature touching 36.2°C and the heat index remaining between 41°C and 45°C through the day. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said there is unlikely to be major relief from the heat till at least May 20, despite forecasts of scattered thunderstorms over the next few days.

Mormugao recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the State at 28.4°C, resulting in warm and humid night conditions. The IMD has forecast hot and humid weather across Goa, along with light to moderate rain and thundershowers on Friday and Saturday.

According to the department, maximum temperatures are expected to remain between 35°C and 36°C till May 20, while minimum temperatures are likely to stay between 27°C and 28°C. The IMD also said conditions were becoming favourable for the advance of the southwest monsoon around May 16, with Kerala likely to receive the monsoon by May 27.
