Man found dead at Vagator beach

An unidentified elderly man was found dead at Dream Beach in Vagator on Monday afternoon, with police suspecting an accidental fall from the rocky cliff above.

According to information from Anjuna Police, an unnatural death case under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) was registered.

Police said a male person was found lying on the sand at Dream Beach, Vagator.

Upon reaching the spot, officers found an unidentified man, estimated to be around 65 years old, lying below a rocky stretch of the beach.

The deceased was wearing blue underwear and had a cross tattoo above the thumb region of his right hand.

His identity and address are yet to be ascertained.

Preliminary observations at the scene indicate that the man may have fallen from the elevated rocky cliff onto the beach below.

Police conducted a detailed scene of offence panchanama and inquest panchanama over the body.

The body has been preserved at the GMC morgue in Bambolim for post-mortem and other medico-legal formalities.

Police said no foul play is suspected at this stage.

Efforts are underway to trace the family members of the deceased, but no relatives had been identified till the time of filing this report.

Further investigation is in progress.
