Man dies after scooter hits power panel

A 48-year-old man from Ponda died after his scooter crashed into an electrical distribution panel at Quelossim late on Wednesday night.

The deceased, identified as Jeevan Naik from Agapur-Durbhat, was returning home from Quelossim when the accident took place at Uddo-Quelossim. Police said he lost control of his scooter and hit a roadside electricity panel.

Naik was first taken to South Goa District Hospital in Margao and later shifted to Goa Medical College in Bambolim, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Police carried out an inquest and sent the body for a post-mortem examination at GMC. After completing medico-legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family for final rites.

Verna police have registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
