Jewellery worth Rs 5L burgled from house in Pomburpa

Burglars broke into the house of Anant Salgaonkar of Velotim-Pomburpa and stole gold ornaments worth Rs 5 lakh.

Porvorim police said the burglary took place sometime prior to 5.30 pm on Monday, when inmates of the house had gone out for work. Burglars entered the house through the back door and broke open the cupboard, decamping with 2 bangles, 1 necklace, earrings and rings all worth around Rs 5 lakh.

The burglary came to light when one family member returned home and she notified the police. A Porvorim police team went to the site and pressed a police dog into service as part of investigations. Porvorim police have registered the offence under Sections 305.331(3) of BNS and PSI Arun Shirodkar is investigating the case.
