Goa NRI commission urges calm among Goans in UAE


PANAJI:

In view of the prevailing situation in the United Arab Emirates, the Goa NRI Commission has appealed to all Goans residing there not to panic, but to remain vigilant and strictly adhere to safety guidelines issued by the authorities.

NRI Commissioner Adv Narendra  told ‘The Goan’ said that he has spoken to members of the Goan community in Dubai, who informed him that the situation is currently normal and under control.

“Sensational messages and unverified information should be avoided. As per the locals, the situation is not scary for now and remains under control,” Sawaikar said.

He added that authorities in Dubai are issuing necessary safety advisories and guidelines, and residents have been advised to follow them diligently.

“I appeal our citizens there as well as relatives and families in Goa not to panic. Goans in Dubai are asked to be vigilant and take due care and follow guidelines and avoid travel,” he said. 

Sawaikar further stated that the NRI Commission is in constant touch with authorities in Dubai as well as with the Ministry of External Affairs to monitor developments closely and ensure the safety and well-being of Goans in the UAE.

The Commission assured that it will continue to coordinate with the concerned agencies and provide timely assistance.
