Pilar Music Academy to host motet singing today

In a bid to revive Goa’s rich tradition of sacred Lenten music, the Pilar Music Academy, under the Society of Pilar (Pilar Fathers), will host “A Sound of Angels”, an evening of motet singing, on Monday, March 2 at 7.30 pm at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao. The programme will feature ten prominent choir groups from across Goa presenting traditional Lenten motets, a devotional musical form that once held a central place in parish life during the penitential season.  Among the choirs participating are Carmel Chorals (Ponda) led by Anoushka Maria Dias, Crescendo Faith Choir (Margao) led by Concy Miranda, Mae De Deus Church Choir (Saligao)led by Joseph Ribeiro, Se Cathedral Choir (Old Goa) led by Br.Valente Da Costa, St Anne’s Choir led by Fevan Cruz (Agonda), St Joseph’s Parish Choir (Dramapur) led by Sebastiao Soares (Seby) Saviourites of Loutolim led by Seby Fernandes, Symphonia (DBCE, Fatorda) led by Alric Antao, The Golden Voices Choir led by Selvyn JC Braganza, and Youth Saviourites of Saviour of the World Parish, Loutolim led by Ronnie Fernandes.
