PANAJI
In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal on fuel conservation and responsible energy use, the Goa government has issued a circular directing all government officials and employees to adopt measures aimed at reducing fuel consumption and promoting efficient use of transport resources.

The circular, issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) on Monday, cited the evolving global situation affecting international fuel supply chains and stressed the need for prudent use of resources.

Government employees have been encouraged to prefer public transport for daily commuting wherever feasible and convenient and to participate in carpooling arrangements with colleagues residing in nearby areas.

The circular also advised departments to plan official travel judiciously and make greater use of virtual platforms for meetings and official interactions wherever possible.

Further, all departments have been instructed to ensure economical and prudent use of government vehicles and transport resources.

“All Heads of Departments shall give wide publicity to these instructions and encourage adherence to the above measures in the larger public interest,” the circular stated.

The order has been issued with the approval of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. The circular has been addressed to all secretaries, heads of departments, corporations, boards, autonomous bodies and branch offices in the Secretariat.
