Officials of the Food and Drugs Administration on Tuesday ordered closure of an eatery at Khareband on grounds that it was operating in unhygienic conditions.

The FDA took the drastic action after earlier warning served on the owner to rectify the faults brought no positive results. The owner had also failed to pay the penalty imposed by the FDA.

A FDA official told the media that the unit will reopen only in the event the owner complies with all the recommendations made by the team. “We had given enough time for the owner to comply with the guidelines, but in vain. Hence, the FDA has ordered the owner to shut the unit till the deficiencies are rectified”, FDA officer Kudalkar stated.
