A youth from Curchorem is feared to have drowned after reportedly jumping into the Zuari river from the Sanvordem bridge on Monday, triggering a major search operation by emergency services and police authorities.
The incident came to light after the teenager’s motorcycle was found parked near the bridge. Sources informed that the youth had been reported missing since Sunday night and a missing complaint was reportedly registered at the Curchorem Police Station.
Soon after the information surfaced, personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services, along with police, rushed to the site and launched a search operation in the river. Rescue teams used boats and other equipment to trace the missing youth.
In the late evening hours, the services of Navy divers were also pressed into operation to intensify the search in the river. However, no trace of the youth had been found till late evening. Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
