Congress leader Dr Ketan Bhatikar dies of suspected snake bite in Goa

PANAJI 

Congress leader Dr Ketan Bhatikar passed away due to suspected snake bike early Friday. He was rushed to the Primary Health Centre Dharbandora after being brought from the Mollem Biodiversity area in 108 ambulance.

Body has been sent for Post mortem examination that will ascertain his exact cause of death

According to doctors, the 38-year-old was brought to the hospital around 3.30 am and was declared dead at approximately 3.45 am. Medical staff stated that Bhatikar was unresponsive at the time of examination and had blue discolouration on his lips.

Police are currently probing the possibility of a snake bite, though the exact cause of death will be confirmed only after the autopsy reports.

Ketan Bhatikar, a physiotherapist by profession was Congress's Ponda by-poll candidate. The elections, however did not take place following High Court intervention.

The Congress expressed deep sorrow over his demise, stating that his dedication to public service and contribution to society and the party would be remembered with respect and gratitude. The party also extended condolences to his family, friends, and supporters.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant also condoled the death of Bhatikar, describing it as a “profound loss to the medical community,” and extended sympathies to the bereaved family while praying for the departed soul.
