Chicalim Hospital receives new cardiac ambulance

A state-of-the-art cardiac ambulance was launched at Chicalim Hospital, providing a major boost to emergency healthcare services in Mormugao Taluka.

The advanced ambulance has been specially equipped with critical cardiac care facilities aimed at providing immediate medical assistance to heart patients during emergencies and while being shifted to higher medical centres.

Sources stated that the cardiac ambulance will primarily cater to patients from Mormugao Taluka and surrounding areas while remaining available for emergency medical situations requiring specialised cardiac transport support.

The vehicle includes essential life-saving equipment and emergency response systems intended to strengthen pre-hospital care for patients requiring urgent cardiac attention.

The new ambulance under the MPLAD funds was launched by South Goa MP Viriato Fernandes in the presence of hospital staff, healthcare workers, local representatives and residents, with many welcoming the addition of the specialised ambulance to the region’s healthcare infrastructure.

Speaking at the event, Capt Viriato Fernandes said the initiative was taken to ensure that people, particularly those from Mormugao and nearby areas, receive timely medical assistance during critical situations.

“Golden hour treatment is extremely important in cardiac emergencies. Many lives can be saved if patients receive immediate support while being transported to hospitals. This ambulance has been introduced with that objective,” Fernandes said.

He added that healthcare remained one of the priority sectors under his MPLADS initiatives and assured that efforts would continue to strengthen facilities accessible to ordinary citizens.

“Our aim is to make quality emergency healthcare services available to every section of society. This ambulance is not merely a vehicle but a life-saving facility that can make a crucial difference during emergencies,” he said.

Hospital authorities also appreciated the initiative and stated that the new ambulance would significantly improve emergency response capabilities in the region. Officials noted that patients suffering from cardiac complications often require rapid intervention and stabilisation before reaching specialised treatment centres, making advanced ambulances vital for saving lives.

Residents and healthcare workers present at the programme expressed hope that the service would help reduce delays in emergency transportation and improve survival chances for critically ill patients.
