Chandor p'yat to conduct survey of migrants in rented premises

Locals want to know if p'yat being paid month's rent

The gram sabha meeting of the village panchayat of Chandor on Sunday has resolved to conduct a survey on the migrants staying on rented premises in the village.

At the Sunday gram sabha chaired by Sarpanch Hipolito Dias, gram sabha members highlighted the issue of migrants staying in rented premises, demanding to know whether the panchayat is collecting the one month rent from the land lords.

After much discussions, the gram sabha decided that the panchayat should conduct a survey, prepare a data on the migrants staying in the village, and whether the landlords are paying one month rent to the Panchayat.

Sarpanch Dias later told the media that the Panchayat would conduct the survey and place the data before the next gram sabha for discussion and action. “Our first step is to find out the number of migrants, how many of them are paying the one month rent. The data will be placed before the next gram sabha for necessary action”, he added.

The garbage issue also figured at the meeting with members seeking to know the status of the MRF shed and how the Panchayat would go about the matter. The Sarpanch later told the media that there is objection to the MRF shed proposed in the village. He, however, hastened to add that a villagers has volunteered to give his land to set up the MRF shed. “The Panchayat would hold an inspection to find the feasibility of the site before taking the next course of action”, he said.

On installation of CCTV cameras, the Sarpanch said a request was  made to install CCTV near the railway bridge in view of  waste dumping by unscrupulous elements. “Since there is no power supply to the area, the panchayat would explore the possibility of install CCTV cameras on solar panels and its effectiveness”, he said.
