Air monitoring machines worth Rs 16 lakh stolen

Five air quality monitoring machines worth Rs 16 lakh belonging to the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) were stolen from the terrace of the Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) quarters near Ravindra Bhavan at Baina in Mormugao.

According to the complaint lodged by Anthony Miranda, Junior Laboratory Assistant of the GSPCB, the theft took place between 9.15 am on May 15 and 10 am on May 20. Unknown accused allegedly broke open the lock of the terrace door and decamped with the equipment.

The stolen items include two respirable dust samplers and three fine particulate samplers used for air quality monitoring.

Mormugao police registered an offence under Sections 303(2) and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

The investigation is being carried out by PSI Stanley Gomes of Mormugao Police Station under the supervision of PI Sheriff Jacques and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
