A minor dispute during a children’s game at Khorlim in Mapusa turned violent after members of their families clashed on Thursday night.

One person was injured in the incident, and the Mapusa police have registered a case against a couple, Imam Hussain alias Raja Jamir Shikarpur and Yasin Jamir Shikarpur. Police said the children were playing at a playground on Thursday morning when an argument broke out between the children of the complainant and the accused.

After the children informed their families about the incident, women from both families got involved in a heated argument. Though the situation calmed down in the afternoon, tensions flared again at night when the men joined the dispute, which later turned into a physical fight.

Police said the accused later went to the house of Basuraj Gadme (41) and allegedly assaulted him with a stick, causing serious head injuries. They also allegedly threatened the complainant with dire consequences. Basuraj was treated at the Mapusa District Hospital. Based on a complaint filed by Rukmini Gadme, Mapusa police registered a case and are conducting further investigations.
