PANAJI: In a move to promote Goa as a centre for remote work and innovation-driven tourism, the Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications (DITE&C) will host the ‘Goa Shackathon’ on May 21 and 22. According to the department, the initiative will turn Goa’s beach shacks into collaborative workspaces, bringing together startups, innovators, designers, students, remote professionals and influencers for a two-day “workation” experience focused on technology, creativity and beachside collaboration.

DITE&C said selected beach shacks will serve as creative workspaces aimed at encouraging brainstorming and innovation outside traditional office settings. The event will also include networking opportunities and breakout sessions on technology, startups and remote work culture. A hackathon will be held alongside the event, where participants will identify challenges and develop technology-based solutions. IT Minister Rohan Khaunte said the Goa Shackathon will showcase the state as a global hub for remote work and creative innovation, where talent can grow in an environment that supports both productivity and well-being. The event will also feature experiential activities such as watersports and sightseeing.
