Margao: Setting Boys Sao Jose de Areal blanked Carmel Boys Curtorim 2-0 to book their place in the quarterfinals of the 19th Rebello Pandal All Goa Football Tournament at St. Rita Church Ground, Maina-Curtorim, on Tuesday.

In an entertaining contest, Setting Boys began aggressively, launching repeated attacks and testing the rival defence on several occasions. Their persistence paid off just before halftime when Bresal Viegas rose high to head home a well-timed cross, giving Areal a 1-0 lead at the break.

After the change of ends, Carmel Boys tried hard to stage a comeback through Ashley D’Cunha, Floyd Antao and Jovial Martin, but luck eluded them as they failed to find the equaliser despite sustained efforts.

In the closing minutes of the match, Areal sealed the victory with a second goal scored by Ashley, putting the result beyond doubt.

Jovial Martin of Carmel Boys Curtorim was adjudged Man of the Match. The award was presented by Rafael, a football enthusiast.
