Mandopa FC emerged champions of the Under-18 Five-a-Side Football Tournament organised by Passionate Dreamers Sports Club after defeating the hosts in an exciting final held on Sunday.

Mandopa FC dominated the first half, scoring four goals to take complete control of the match. Clyde Pereira opened the scoring, while Sam Pereira stole the show with a brilliant hat-trick, giving his side a commanding advantage.

In the second half, Passionate Dreamers mounted a spirited comeback. Tanish Simoes scored two fine goals to narrow the margin and revive hopes of a turnaround. However, Mandopa FC held their composure in the closing stages to seal the title.

Both goalkeepers played a crucial role in the contest. Melbourn Cardozo of Passionate Dreamers produced several key saves, while Nawaz of Mandopa FC delivered a strong performance under pressure.

The tournament featured 32 teams and 252 players from across Goa and was aimed at promoting grassroots football. Organisers praised the discipline and sportsmanship displayed throughout, noting that the entire event concluded without a single card being issued.

The final was attended by several distinguished guests, including Daisy Castro (former India U-17 player), Primson Fernandes (FC Goa development coach), Augusto de Silva (ex-Railway player), Rajiv, and Juliet (DSYA coach), who encouraged the young players and lauded the initiative.

Organisers said the tournament marks a strong step towards strengthening youth football in Goa and creating pathways for future talent at the state and national level.
