MARGAO: DK Boys, Ambaulim secured a hard-fought 2-1 win over Curtorim Boys to advance to the quarterfinals of the 19th All Goa Rebello Pandal Football Tournament, organised by Rebello Pandal Maina at St. Rita Church ground, Maina, Curtorim, on Monday.
Alex Fernandes and Visiton Fernandes scored for DK Boys in the 34th and 50th minutes, respectively, while Anslem Fernandes pulled one back for Curtorim with a precise finish from a corner in the 58th minute.
Curtorim had a golden chance to equalise in the dying moments but failed to convert, allowing Ambaulim to hold on for the win.
Football enthusiast Ivona Rebello presented the Man of the Match award to Prakash of Curtorim Boys, who made crucial saves, stopping three one-on-one attempts from Ambaulim.
