Chowgule SC, Salgaocar CC register emphatic wins

The final league round of the Goa Cricket Association's Premier Division One-Day League was held on Sunday, following which the semi-finalists were confirmed. In the first semi-final, Geno Sports Club (Group 1 toppers) will take on Margao Cricket Club (Group 2 runners-up) on the morning of the 29th. Later in the day, Chowgule Sports Club (Group 1 runners-up) will face Salgaocar Cricket Club (Group 2 toppers) in the second semi-final.

At the GCA Academy ground in Porvorim, Chowgule Sports Club defeated Dempo Cricket Club by 7 wickets. Batting first, Dempo posted 283 for 8 in 40 overs. Abhinav Tej Rana anchored the innings with a brilliant 160 off 112 balls, while Snehal Kauthankar (30) and Jeevan Chittem (26) provided support. For Chowgule, Felix Alemao starred with the ball, claiming four wickets.

In reply, Chowgule chased down the target comfortably, scoring 288 for 3 in 31.2 overs. Shivendra Bhujbal smashed an unbeaten 154 off 100 balls, turning the match decisively in his team's favour. Madhur contributed a quickfire 81 off 55 balls.

Meanwhile, at the GCA ground in Sanguem-Kotarli, Salgaocar Cricket Club edged past Panjim Gymkhana by 5 runs in a thrilling contest. Salgaocar, batting first, scored 258 for 6 in 40 overs. Piyush Yadav (76) and Yash Kasvankar (unbeaten 72) led the charge, while Tunish Sawkar added a useful 27.

Chasing 259, Panjim Gymkhana were bowled out for 253 in 29 overs. Mohit Redkar's 87 off 51 balls and Dishank Prabhu Misquin's 60 kept their hopes alive, but Salgaocar bowlers held their nerve in the final stages. Ruthvik Naik picked up four wickets to play a key role in the win.
