Benaulim Veterans (Blue) staged a spirited comeback to defeat Cavelossim Veterans 2-1 and book their place in the semifinals of the 4th Benaulim Constituency Veterans Football Trophy, organised by CLCAC in coordination with Benaulim MLA Capt. Venzy Viegas at the Benaulim Vadi ground.
Cavelossim drew first blood through striker Alex Rodrigues, who put his side ahead in the opening half. Benaulim responded strongly after the break, with Francis Pele restoring parity with a well-taken goal. Pele then emerged as the match-winner, striking five minutes from time to seal a memorable victory for the hosts.
In the other quarterfinal, Colva Veterans cruised to a commanding 5-1 win over Carmona Veterans. Jose Shellu starred for Colva with a four-goal haul, while Anthony added the fifth. Neil D'Cruz scored the lone consolation goal for Carmona.
