The NEET paper leak is not just a scam but an attack on the future of India’s youth. NEET is the gateway to medical education and determines admission to medical colleges across the country. This is not the first controversy surrounding the exam. In 2024, NEET faced allegations of paper leaks, fraud and irregularities in awarding grace marks, leading to nationwide protests after many candidates received unusually high scores. From medical entrance tests to government recruitment exams, paper leaks have repeatedly exposed weaknesses in India’s examination system.
For students, NEET preparation often consumes years of hard work, sacrifice and emotional stress. Coaching schedules are intense, social lives disappear, and many attempt the exam repeatedly in the hope of securing a government medical seat. Such fraud destroys the dreams and efforts of deserving aspirants.
The NEET-UG paper leak reflects serious administrative failure and demands urgent systemic reforms. Strict measures must be introduced to prevent such irregularities in future. The government should regulate coaching centres, ensure affordable fees, and expand free coaching and boarding facilities for poor students. The recommendations of the Radhakrishnan Committee on conducting NEET and other national exams must also be implemented.
