Communal harmony at stake in our State

Gautam Khattar appearing fit and healthy after his “chest pain” episode following bail has raised questions. When confronted by media over his remarks about Saint Francis Xavier”remarks unrelated to his religion or historical texts”he reacted aggressively instead of clarifying his position. Rather than addressing the issue, slogans were raised to shift focus.

There are concerns that certain groups in Goa are using religion to provoke division, while authorities appear lenient, even extending special treatment. This sequence of events gives the impression of a coordinated effort to mislead devotees of SFX. It is also puzzling how bail was granted despite multiple cases reportedly registered across Goa.

At the same time, the growing presence of self-styled religious figures risks deepening social divides. Many observers feel that faith should unite, not be used to interfere in or undermine others’ beliefs. Public sentiment reflects frustration with increasing hostility and disrespect.

Ultimately, people believe that accountability will prevail”whether through the justice system or moral consequences”and that respect among religions must be upheld for social harmony.
