A united Opposition in Goa stands a strong chance of forming the next government in the 2027 Assembly elections. The Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, Goa Forward Party, Revolutionary Goans Party, Nationalist Congress Party and other regional parties with public support must immediately work towards creating a common platform to bring about the much-needed political change in the state. Public dissatisfaction with the present government has steadily increased, with many Goans expressing concern over policies and governance that they believe are harming the interests of the people. There is a growing demand for a change in leadership, and the Opposition must seize this opportunity with careful planning and unity. A practical seat-sharing arrangement can ensure smooth coordination among parties. The Congress, for instance, could contest in its traditional strongholds in Salcete, while other parties should be allotted seats according to their grassroots support and influence in respective constituencies. The 2022 Assembly elections clearly showed that the Opposition collectively secured nearly 66 per cent of the vote share but failed due to a lack of coordination. If the parties remain united, focused and committed, victory in 2027 is well within reach.
