Bullfights continue to defy ban in State

Illegal bullfights continue in South Goa because the government is slow in enforcing the law. This tradition has been part of the Goan community for years, with many locals supporting it. Fighter bulls belong to Goa’s owners, and large crowds gather to watch these events, which involve significant money, similar to gambling. Instead of banning the same, the government should legalize bullfights with proper safety regulations. While police struggle to stop gambling like matka, they target bullfights unevenly. Many events carry on with tacit approval from local MLAs and ministers, indicating political influence over enforcement.
