The Model code of conduct (MCC) has come into immediate effect in Ponda and the entire South District casting a shadow on the remainder of the ongoing budget session of the Goa Legislative Assembly.

The MCC puts curbs on policy announcements and government decisions that could sway or impact the electorate which could put the treasury benches, particularly the Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant and cabinet ministers in a bit of a spot during the House proceedings.

Meanwhile, speaking on the code of conduct, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the government will seek the view of ECI on the ongoing Assembly session.

“I don't think that there will be any issue as far as Assembly session is concerned… it will go as per schedule… we will however seek ECI Goa view on the matter”, Sawant said.
