Expressing confidence over granting political reservation to Scheduled Tribes (ST) community in the 2027 polls, Minister Ramesh Tawadkar on Tuesday said only the notification announcing the implementation date of the Political Reservation Act, 2025 for ST reservation in the Goa Legislative Assembly is pending.
He said a delegation is likely to travel to Delhi in coordination with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to press for the immediate notification related to the implementation of the Political Reservation Act, 2025, which provides reservation for Scheduled Tribes in the Goa Legislative Assembly.
“We are likely to take a delegation to Delhi pressing for immediate notification announcing the implementation date. We are making all efforts to see that the reservation comes into force for 2027 polls,” he said.
In a parallel development, Tawadkar announced the end of his long-standing differences with former minister Govind Gaude, saying ST leaders would now work together for the community.
“For the betterment of Goa and the ST community, we three ST leaders have decided to work together. Govind Gaude, Ganesh Gaonkar and I are together,” Tawadkar said.
He said all three leaders would share the stage during “Prerna Din” on May 25. “Today I am a Minister and hence I decided to take steps backward,” he added.
