Swiss national dies during treatment at GMC

A 69-year-old Swiss national, Diego Realini, who had been undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim, passed away late Sunday night while in hospital care.
Realini, a Swiss passport holder, had been residing alone at Shambala Guest House resort at Khairat, Camurlim in Bardez since December 17, 2025. Police said he had arrived in India as a tourist.
Sources informed that Realini, who reportedly had a history of cardiac ailment in Switzerland, fell ill on March 1 at around 3 pm. He began vomiting in his room, and his condition deteriorated rapidly.
The caretaker and owner of the guest house shifted him in a private ambulance to Vision Hospital at Duler, Mapusa. He was later moved to North District Hospital, Mapusa, and subsequently referred to Goa Medical College and Hospital in an unconscious state for further treatment. He expired while undergoing treatment at GMC.
Police said no foul play is suspected in the death. Further inquiry is being conducted by PSI Vishnu Jadhav of Colvale Police Station.
