However, locals have warned that the site has become increasingly dangerous. Although iron safety railings were installed earlier, several sections have deteriorated over time, leaving exposed edges along the cliff. Tourists are frequently seen standing dangerously close to the edge for selfies and photographs, heightening the possibility of mishaps.
Residents have expressed concern that the situation worsens during the rainy season when heavy fog, slippery surfaces, and reduced visibility make the area even more hazardous. Narrow ghat roads, unregulated parking, and traffic congestion further add to the risk for motorists and pedestrians. In several instances, roadside parking has obstructed traffic flow, creating additional safety hazards.
Locals have also alleged that some visitors engage in risky behaviour, including filming stunt videos at the viewpoint. Instances of loud music, alcohol consumption, and unruly conduct have reportedly disturbed the otherwise peaceful surroundings.
The community has urged the concerned authorities to take immediate corrective measures, including repairing and strengthening safety railings, installing robust protective barriers, and deploying security personnel to regulate tourist movement. They have also called for better traffic management and monitoring at the site.
Residents stressed that urgent intervention is necessary to prevent a potential tragedy at this increasingly vulnerable tourist hotspot.
