But on Tuesday, the All Goa Petrol Dealers Association stepped in to calm nerves and at a press conference in Panaji, the association's president Narahar Thakur declared: “There is no shortage of petrol or diesel in the State. Stocks are healthy. People must not fall prey to misconceptions.”
Thakur was joined by association secretary Sunil Morajkar and representatives of Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum, and Indian Oil.
They stressed that Goa currently holds reserves sufficient for 15 days and fresh supplies arrive fortnightly by sea, with a tanker docking at Mormugao port on Monday evening carrying petrol and diesel.
“In Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bangladesh, fuel prices have soared. In India, and especially Goa, the situation is far better,” Thakur said.
He acknowledged Modi’s appeal for conservation, urging citizens to use fuel judiciously.
“There is no scarcity, but responsible consumption is essential,” he added.
The dealers reiterated that Goa’s supply chain remains intact and there is no cause for alarm and that rumours and speculation must stop.
