PANAJI
The High Court of Bombay at Goa has issued notices to the State government and the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department on three petitions challenging the withdrawal of permissions granted under Section 39A of the TCP Act in St Andre constituency.
The petitioners claimed that they were granted no-objection certificates (NOCs) for the change of zone of their land under Section 39A, but these approvals were subsequently revoked following public protests. The petition further slammed that permissions were withdrawn without any prior notice or without giving them an opportunity to be heard.
While issuing notices to the respondents, the court posted the matter for the next hearing on June 17.
The TCP Department, in February-end, ordered suspension of all provisional and final land conversion permissions issued under Section 39A in St Andre, after a mega protest and a week-long hunger strike by MLA Viresh Borkar.
