Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has raised concern over the growing menace of irregular waste dumping across Goa, urging residents to stop discarding garbage in rivers and other water bodies.
Addressing the issue, Sawant warned that the practice of dumping waste in plastic bags and throwing it into water sources has led to severe degradation of several water bodies in the State.
“A lot of water bodies have got spoiled this way. The garbage should be accumulated at one spot and we will come and collect it,” he said.
The chief minister highlighted that the government is investing significant funds in waste collection and disposal systems. However, despite these efforts, indiscriminate dumping in rivers and open spaces continues, harming the environment and tarnishing Goa’s image.
He appealed to citizens to cooperate with authorities by adopting proper waste disposal practices and contributing to the preservation of the State’s natural resources.
