Former Chief Minister Churchill Alemao on Tuesday said that he is not happy with the High Court decision in the Enforcement Directorate’s case, as he had been falsely implicated in the Louis Berger scam.

“I am not happy with the court verdict for the simple reason that I was never involved in the Louis Berger case. I was falsely implicated. I spent three months in jail for no reason, while those who were involved in the case went scot-free,” he said.

Saying that former Chief Minister the late Manohar Parrikar was behind filing the Louis Berger case without any basis, he added that he had to pay the price for making a statement against him.

“Since I was innocent, I visited the police station despite being advised to the contrary by my friend, Adv Radharao Gracias. Once I reached the police station to find out why I had been called, they arrested me without any rhyme or reason. I was in jail for three months. I would have suffered further incarceration had my daughter, Adv Valanka Alemao, not prepared the case for my release,” he added.
