A largescale health screening initiative, “Checked By Dotor”, exclusively targeting women aged 40 and above, covered a total of 2,280 beneficiaries across Goa since its launch on March 8.

According to official data, 1,702 women were screened for hypertension and 1,519 for diabetes. Cancer screening formed a key component of the drive, with 656 women screened for breast cancer and 692 for oral cancer, while 48 PAP smear tests were conducted.

The initiative also focused on women’s overall health, with 760 screened for anaemia -- of whom 118 were found anaemic -- and 375 screened for reproductive tract infections. Family planning counselling was extended to 369 women.

Maternal health services included screening of 98 pregnant women and examination of 33 postnatal women, while 16 pregnant women were administered Td vaccination. Nutritional support saw 103 women receiving iron tablets and 72 provided calcium supplements.

The initiative was launched on the occasion of Women's Day on March 8 by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
