Goa International Airport at Dabolim celebrated Yatri Suwidha Diwas on Monday with a range of passenger-focused activities, cultural programmes and staff welfare initiatives.

The event was organised by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) as part of a nationwide celebration marking the growth of India’s aviation sector over the past 12 years.

Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho attended the programme as chief guest and felicitated airport achievers, including women professionals and housekeeping staff, for their contribution to airport operations.

Airport Director Flt Lt Akash Deep said the initiative aimed to strengthen passenger engagement while promoting staff welfare and operational efficiency.

He said Goa International Airport remains committed to providing safe, efficient and passenger-friendly services.

The celebrations began with a blood donation camp for airport staff at the AAI Training Hall, followed by the singing of Vande Mataram at the departure concourse. An official felicitation ceremony was later held at the departure lounge.

Passengers travelling through the airport were welcomed with traditional Goan hospitality, including a tika welcome on arrival. Cultural performances and live brass band music were organised at various locations in the terminal, while a CISF dog squad demonstration attracted passengers in the security hold area.

Several activities were held throughout the day, including painting sessions for children, a waste-to-art exhibition featuring items made from recycled materials, and aviation awareness programmes with an interactive session on air traffic control.

Special selfie points were set up across the terminal, while selected food, beverage and retail outlets offered concessions to passengers. A culinary activity hosted by TFS was also organised.

As part of the staff welfare programme, the airport conducted eye check-up and general health screening camps for employees.

Airport officials said the event reflected AAI’s efforts to combine passenger convenience, cultural engagement and employee welfare while highlighting the continued development of India’s aviation sector.
