The kitchen which was gutted in a fire at Pilerne flat.

A woman was injured in a fire at her flat on the first floor of Jaswat building near Krishna temple at Pilerne on Saturday morning.

Pilerne Fire station Officer Damodar Pednekar said the fire station was alerted of a fire in the flat and a fire brigade later extinguished the fire in the kitchen.

Tejal Tulsidas Naik (74) sustained injuries when she opened the door of the kitchen. She has been admitted to Goa Medical College hospital at Bambolim for treatment.

“The fire is suspected to have started due to an explosion of the air cooler in the kitchen,” said Pednekar.
