Woman dies in scooter accident in Canacona

CANACONA

A 61-year-old Utorda woman, Sharmila D’Costa, died after falling from a scooter with her husband, Antonio Jose D’Costa, in Khola, Canacona. The couple was travelling from Agonda to Betul when a four-legged animal appeared on a curve at Molorem, causing the rider to lose control. Both fell and sustained injuries. They were taken to Shri Gopal Das Hospital, Margao, where Sharmila was declared dead on arrival.

Canacona police conducted an inquest and Panchnama before sending her for post-mortem, which confirmed death from “craniocerebral damage due to blunt force impact.”

The body was released to family. The incident is registered as a motor vehicle accident and unnatural death under Section 194 BNSS.
