Valpoi Municipal body invites bids for ‘Zatra, Sopo Tax’ collection

The Valpoi Municipal Council (VMC) has invited tenders for the collection of revenue from Zatras (religious fairs) and Sopo (market tax) within the municipal limits, with the minimum bid amount fixed at Rs 14.45 lakh (excluding 18% GST).

The council has issued the tender notice for the second time and has appealed to interested contractors to submit their applications.

According to the tender notice issued by the Chief Officer of the Municipal Council, the contract will be awarded for the collection of revenue from the Valpoi Municipal Market and various Zatras within the municipal limits for the period from April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027.

Interested bidders are required to deposit 2% of the quoted amount as Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) while submitting the tender. The tender forms along with detailed terms and conditions are available at the Municipal Council office on payment of Rs 1,000 (non-refundable).

As per the council’s notification, the last date for the receipt and sale of tender forms is March 20 up to 3 pm. Sealed tenders will be accepted until March 24 up to 3 pm, and the same will be opened on the same day at 3.30 pm.

The municipal administration has also stated that the council reserves the right to reject any or all tenders received without assigning any reason.

Every year, several religious fairs and weekly markets are held within the Valpoi Municipal Council jurisdiction, generating significant revenue for the council.

As a result, the tender for the collection of this revenue has attracted the attention of local contractors and business operators, and a good response to the tender is expected this year as well.
