With the term of the Valpoi Municipal Council (VMC) ending on Thursday, the government has appointed Raju Desai as the administrator of the Valpoi municipality.

Although Desai has not yet officially taken charge, he is expected to do so on Monday.

Desai has assured that no municipal work will be delayed and that all operations will continue smoothly.

“Due to prior commitments, I could not take formal charge immediately. However, I will assume office by Monday. There will be no impact on the functioning of the municipality,” he said.

Necessary instructions have been issued to the VMC chief officer and Sattari Mamlatdar, Dhirendra Banavalikar.

At present, the day-to-day functioning of the municipality is being carried out under his guidance, and administrative work is continuing without disruption.

With the monsoon season approaching in the next two months, pre-monsoon work has already begun across the Valpoi municipal area. Priority is being given to cleaning drains, repairing nullahs and completing other essential work. Efforts are being made to finish all necessary work in every ward before the onset of the monsoon.

Desai assured that even though the elected council is no longer in place, public services will not be affected.

“Focus will be on resolving citizens’ issues quickly, and the administration remains committed to serving the public,” he said.

Appealing for public cooperation, he added, “A government officer is a servant of the people. Issues causing inconvenience to citizens will be resolved without delay.”

Raju Desai is currently serving as a Forest Settlement Officer and has handled several projects in Sattari taluka.
