UP native held for cheating woman, luring her with false promise of marriage

The Colva police has arrested a native of Uttar Pradesh for cheating and for establishing physical relationship with the woman by employing deceitful means / false promise of marriage.

Following a complaint lodged by the woman from Margao, the Colva police registered the FIR against the 28-year old accused,  native of Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.

The incident is believed to have taken place from August 28, 2025 till May 8, 2026 at Colva, wherein the accused person contacted the complainant through Instagram by using fake identity and dishonestly gained her trust by false representation. 

Further, the police said the accused person dishonestly induced the complainant to transfer approximately Rs four lakh and also obtained gold chain and gold ring belonging to deceased mother of complainant on false pretext of rituals and marriage and thereby committed criminal breach of trust and cheating. 

The police further informed that the accused person established physical relationship with complainant at Colva on false promise of marriage and by deceitful means. 

In this connection, the Colva police has registered a case under section 69, 316, 318 BNS. 

Colva police station in-charge, PI Vikram Naik informed that the accused has been arrested and remanded to six days police custody.

The police is investigating.
