Three booked for property fraud in Fatorda

The Fatorda police have registered an offence against three persons for cheating in a property matter.

The FIR was registered based on a complaint lodged by Prakash Ganapathi Bhat, Managing Director of Varnada Industries Pvt Ltd, Mumbai, alleging that between June 18, 2024, and August 9, 2024, at the office of the Mamlatdar of Margao, the three accused persons, including a notary, fraudulently forged the complainant’s signature and prepared a false affidavit and no-objection certificate without his presence or consent.

The complainant further alleged that the trio attempted to use the documents before the Mamlatdar of Margao, Salcete, for mutation of a property situated at Sao Jose de Areal, Salcete, which had already been sold to his company on June 18, 2024, before the Sub-Registrar, Salcete-Margao, and is mortgaged with a bank.

A case under Sections 318(4), 336(3), 338, 340(2) read with 3(5) of the BNS, 2023, has been registered and further investigation is on.
