A group of residents in Navelim, led by the Navelim Civic and Consumer Forum, planted saplings along a stretch of road to warn motorists about unsafe conditions following sewage work.
Forum Secretary Joseph Vaz said the sewage department laid a pipeline along the road near the Navelim Church on Wednesday evening. However, he alleged that the road was restored in a careless manner, creating a risk for motorists. Vaz said the trench dug for the pipeline was filled without following proper norms. “We have planted saplings to alert motorists to the danger caused by the poor restoration work,” he said.
He added that the Forum would ask sewage department officials to carry out the restoration work properly on Thursday to ensure the safety of road users.
