Fuel prices across India have been hiked after oil marketing companies increased petrol and diesel rates by Rs 3 per litre each amid rising global crude oil prices linked to the West Asia conflict and disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz. Prices of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) have also been increased by Rs 2 per kg, taking the retail price to Rs 84 per kg.
Following the revision, petrol in Goa is now priced at Rs 99.79 per litre, while diesel costs Rs 91.49 per litre, bringing Goa’s fuel prices close to rates seen in major metro cities.
According to the revised rates across the country, petrol prices have crossed Rs 110 per litre in several states including Telangana, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh, while diesel prices are nearing the Rs 100 mark in many regions.
In New Delhi, petrol now costs Rs 97.77 per litre following the hike. Meanwhile, petrol prices in Mumbai have risen to Rs 106.64 per litre, with similar increases reported in Chennai and Kolkata.
India had earlier avoided increasing domestic fuel prices despite the sharp rise in global crude oil prices caused by tensions involving Iran and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz shipping route.
