According to sources, many households in Nanus have been facing irregular water supply from the Dabos water project for the past year. Residents said the water pressure has remained extremely low, preventing several houses from receiving enough water. Locals claimed it takes nearly an hour to fill a single pot.
The water supply was completely disrupted from Saturday morning, leading to strong resentment among villagers. Residents came out onto the roads and criticised the functioning of the Water Supply Department.
After the matter went viral on social media, department officials took immediate notice and sent two water tankers to the area around noon to ease the crisis. While residents welcomed the temporary relief, they questioned how long tanker supply would continue.
“For the past one year, water has not been supplied regularly. We never know when water will come through the taps. Due to very low pressure, it takes at least an hour to fill one pot,” residents complained.
Officials said the existing pipeline supplying water to the area is very old and has limited capacity, affecting the supply. They added that a larger and new pipeline is needed to ensure uninterrupted supply.
According to officials, efforts are underway and once approval is granted, a new pipeline will be laid to permanently solve the water shortage problem. Until then, water will continue to be supplied through tankers whenever required.
Meanwhile, residents expressed satisfaction that the authorities acted quickly and arranged tanker supply after the issue received attention on social media.
