KLS GIT hosts AI conclave on future careers in engineering

The Karnataka Law Society’s Gogte Institute of Technology (KLS GIT) hosted a major AI Conclave titled “Engineering 2.0: AI Redefining Careers” on Saturday, bringing together experts from leading technology companies, industry, academia, research institutions and students to discuss the growing impact of Artificial Intelligence on careers and engineering education.

Addressing the gathering, KLS GIT Principal Dr Vijay Athavale said the rapid pace of technological change has made it important for educational institutions and industries to equip students and employees with skills needed for the future. He said KLS GIT is working to bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry by connecting students with global technology leaders. He also noted that several industries in Belagavi are already benefiting from AI-driven solutions.

The conclave featured keynote sessions by experts from leading global companies. Suryakant Mutnal of Microsoft spoke on AI in cloud technologies, while Venkatesh Rao of Cognizant discussed AI’s role in the technology services sector. Experts from MediaTek, IBM, PayPal, Demokraft AI and Broadcom also spoke on AI applications in semiconductors, data solutions, recruitment, SaaS products and network infrastructure.

An interactive session was later held for aspiring engineering students and parents, focusing on changing industry expectations and emerging career opportunities in AI. A panel discussion moderated by Priyanka Nayak highlighted how AI is opening opportunities across all engineering streams.

The conclave was attended by Karnataka Law Society dignitaries, including President Shri Pradeep S. Sawkar, Governing Council Chairman Rajendra Belgaumkar, office-bearers and members of the Board of Management.
