The process of issuing EHN (Enable House Numbers) to houses in various panchayat and municipal areas of Sattari taluka has been stopped, causing serious difficulties for many residents.
Several families who have built new houses have not yet received house numbers from the respective panchayats, making it difficult for them to obtain basic facilities such as electricity and water supply.
Highlighting this issue, Poriem MLA Deviya Rane raised the matter in the Legislative Assembly on Thursday and demanded that the government restart the process of issuing EHN.
If this demand is fulfilled, hundreds of families in Sattari taluka will benefit, and it will pave the way for them to access essential basic facilities for their homes.
According to information, panchayats would regularly issue EHN to newly constructed houses. Once a house number was allotted, it became easier for house owners to obtain electricity connections, water supply, property registration, and other government services. Thousands of citizens had benefited from this system in the past.
However, a few years ago the process was suddenly discontinued, and since then panchayats have stopped issuing new house numbers.
As a result, in many villages of Sattari taluka, residents who have constructed houses have still not been allotted official house numbers. Without house numbers, obtaining electricity connections, water supply, and access to several government schemes has become extremely difficult. Consequently, many families have not been able to move into their newly built homes.
Several residents had brought this issue to the attention of MLA Deviya Rane, who raised the issue in the Assembly.
She stated that people in rural areas work extremely hard to build their homes, which often represent a lifelong dream. However, if basic facilities are not available even after building a house, it is indeed a very unfortunate situation.
Rane appealed to the government to take immediate action and allow panchayats to restart the process of issuing house numbers.
