The cardiac screening clinic will function every Thursday from 9 am to 5 pm on a prior appointment basis. Patients are required to register in advance at the Valpoi Sub-District Hospital to avail themselves of the service.
Cardiologist Dr Milind Desai urged citizens to make use of the facility, stating that early detection and timely intervention are crucial in preventing serious cardiac complications.
“Heart diseases are on the rise due to changing lifestyles and dietary patterns. This free screening service will help identify potential cardiac issues at an early stage and enable timely treatment,” Dr Desai said.
According to Dr Desai, advance registration will help streamline patient flow and ensure efficient use of the facility without overcrowding.
Dr Desai emphasised that people in rural areas often neglect their health due to work commitments and busy schedules. As a result, many illnesses are detected only at advanced stages, leading to serious complications.
He advised residents not to ignore symptoms such as chest discomfort, shortness of breath, palpitations, fatigue, or unexplained dizziness. Early screening can significantly improve treatment outcomes and reduce the risk of major cardiac events.
The sophisticated cardiac diagnostic system has been provided through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of ACGL. The machine, valued at approximately Rs 60 lakh, is equipped with advanced imaging technology capable of detailed cardiac assessment.
The examination takes only about ten minutes, and reports are generated immediately. Any abnormalities detected can be promptly referred for further evaluation and treatment, ensuring faster medical intervention.
Appealing to the public, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane encouraged citizens to utilise the free echocardiography service.
“Having such an advanced diagnostic facility available in a rural area like Valpoi is a significant achievement and a major benefit for the people of Sattari. With heart disease cases increasing due to lifestyle changes, regular cardiac screening has become more important than ever,” he said.
