MARGAO

Members of the Goa Youth Congress Committee led by President Archit Naik on Tuesday launched the Kisan Nyay Satyagraha from Margao as part of the all India campaign to fight for India’s farmers and agriculture.

During the campaign, the youth Congress activists will also take up local issues affecting the youth of the State, besides general issues.

Youth Congress President Archit Naik said the main objective behind organising the Kisan Nyay Satyagraha is to demand scrapping of the Indo-US trade deal, saying the deal will affect the Indian farmers in the long run.

Naik said the zero tariffs on raw material coming into India from the US will spell doom for the Indian farmers. “Agriculture has been the mainstay of the Indian economy over the years. Any injustice to the farmers by the Indo-US trade deal will spell doom for Indian farmers and agriculture,” he added.

Margao block Congress convenor Savio Coutinho, Chirag Naik, besides party leaders Savio D’Silva, Moreno Rebello and others participated in the satyagraha.
