He criticised people who come from outside, make provocative remarks, and leave, while locals face the consequences. He added that such voices are often given unnecessary attention.
Sardesai was speaking after inaugurating the ‘Pasoi’ walking track and recreational space at Borda (Ward 9) in the presence of Ravindra Naik, Fr Dylon D Costa, Ramesh Sarmalkar, Raymond Lopes, Jose Marie Miranda, Farzana, and other MMC councillors. He said the project is not just about building infrastructure, but also about strengthening community life, dialogue, and public participation in Fatorda.
He said the ‘Pasoi’ space is more than a walking track, open gym, or seating area. It is meant to bring people together and revive Goa’s culture of community interaction.
“Such spaces should encourage people to step out, interact, and even discuss governance, including whether their MLA or councillor is performing well,” he said.
Criticising the Chief Minister’s approach, Sardesai said Goa should not lower its standards by celebrating basic achievements like ODF status. He said the State, with its high per capita income and strong social indicators, should aim for global standards and “compete with Europe” instead of comparing itself with states such as Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, or Madhya Pradesh.
He added that many people see Goa as a “foreign country within India” because of the sense of freedom it offers. While Goans follow the principle of Atithi Devo Bhava, he said this openness should not disturb communal harmony or weaken Goa’s identity.
On the political front, Sardesai said his party is ready for elections at any time and is confident of defeating the BJP. He said the aim is to unite people across communities and castes and provide governance that benefits all.
He also pointed to defections as a major issue in politics, saying elected representatives who switch parties betray public trust. He said his party will give priority to loyal candidates who will not defect, even if it means overlooking stronger contenders.
